Bike Winter Art Show 2026
See creative artworks, iconography and object ephemera from our local ARTS and ADVOCACY communities that celebrate, revere, lionize, criticize and focus on THE BICYCLE as symbol of Chicago’s activism, invention, agency, community, strategy and sustainable transportation. The Bike Winter Art Show (BWAS) has been presented in various studios, lofts and galleries since 1997. Agitator Gallery is proud to host the 28th annual exhibit in Chicago.

Agitator Gallery invites artists to present their work to be critiqued. In one evening up to 6 artists will display select pieces to a group of peers invited to analyze and discuss the artwork. Each artist will have 15-20 minutes to introduce your work, answer questions and receive feedback. These critique sessions are a great opportunity to network, workshop ideas and get input as you promote projects or develop new pieces. DREADed Winter’s Call - a tt.rpg evening
Welcome to DREAD- the horror TTRPG that uses a Jenga tower instead of dice! (Please note that DREAD is, at base, a HORROR game. That means spooky situations, monsters, and potential character death.) The main mechanic used will be a simple Jenga tower. Pull and successfully place a piece for specific actions. The rest is just roleplay! And what happens if the Tower falls? Your character is doomed, but players can access a special post-death game if desired.
Winter Solstice Swap Party
Join Pagan Action Network Chicago for P.A.N.I.C.’s first annual Yule Party! We will be hosting a Yuletide swap of whimsical trinkets, knick-knacks and gifts with local pagans while enjoying the warmth of community. Featuring tarot readings, a Winter Solstice yule goat ritual, and closing with a community drum circle. PLEASE BRING ITEMS for the YULETIDE SWAP & GIFT DRIVE: The swap is for people to trade gently used goods, keeping money out of corporations’ pockets and reducing waste while satisfying the crow-like urge to gather pretty, shiny things. You do not have to identify as a witch or pagan to participate. Open respectfully to one and all! We will hold a ritual to celebrate the solstice and cast light on the darkest day of the year. Bring a drum or instrument to participate in the jam!

Opening: Ghosts of Winters Past & Future
The days are short and the nights are long, join us to welcome the coming of the light. This exhibition invites the community to participate in holiday mirth, solemnity, and remembrance as we struggle together through the scourge of this post-capitalist ice hell. The exhibiting artists celebrate the folkloric and forgotten roots of the season, remembering the traditions of the monstrous, ghostly, and fiendish characters of Yuletide, and reminding us that the holidays are about solidarity, community, and giving. Honor our grief at the darkest part of the year, and make space for hope in the coming year.

Free Jazz Orchestra
The Chicago Noise / Free Jazz Orchestra is an experiment. By intention there is no one prescribed way the orchestra will function. Musicians arrive by 6:30pm for refreshments and set up. We start at 7:30pm and finish up around 10:30pm. The conductor sets the rules. Free jazz and noise musicians are invited to participate. Bring your own amps, cables, extension cords, and power strips.

Diverse genders and bodies are an intrinsic aspect of the human experience and culture, but historically, dominant world cultures have denied and limited them. This exhibit takes a creative stand against such limitations, even as the current political administration is seeking to impose and enforce them, and thus, erase gender variety.
Tonight We All Die- The Poetry of Death & More
Come celebrate that “all things must end.” Tonight is the closing of the Decayging exhibition, and its also the birth of an evening of “The Poetry of Death,” creative reflections on the cyclical process of living life/dying death and how the two are one and the same. Tonight 6 artist poet performer musicians will guide the audience through creating a final reflection—both mournful and jubilant—for a shared, communal and collaborative “death celebration.”
BARE Book Club
When the night sharpens and veil thins, we gather - BARE bodies, BARE words, and stories that bleed. Skulls, Death & Devils: Mask Workshop
Agitator puppeteer Wendy Madrigal & sculptor Alonso Galue guide a workshop designed to assist participants in building puppets, masks & costumes for ritual performance. Wendy and Alonso present a puppet play and absurdist march around the gallery neighborhood on the Day of the Dead (Nov 1st) during a night of performance, music and poetry of Death.
Deadly Serious/Artful Mortality- Symposium
This symposium invites cultural commentators and death activists/experts to examine mortality and share their thoughts on its power and impact in our contemporary moment—as well as propose new ways of engaging the premise and practice of our death from more sustainable and constructive perspectives. Looking at death conversely asks viewers to consider what is the meaning and value of (a) life. See how these presenters grapple with the concept of our “decayging” and present new life—& DEATH!—affirming models of addressing, engaging, architecting our own mortality.
Decayging: A Memento Mori Exhibit- Opening
Funerary and death-marking have been a part of human cultural, civic and religious traditions throughout time. The memento mori has been a recurring tradition in art making. The exhibit, Decayging, invites creative artists, cultural commentators and death activists to examine mortality and share their thoughts on its power and impact in our contemporary moment—as well as propose new ways of engaging the premise and practice of our death from more sustainable and constructive perspectives. The art’s message matches, mirrors and surmounts the aesthetics of the visual image. Work was selected that addresses politics and philosophy, symbols and language, history and religion, location and geography, and other ideas that challenge convention.

a Través De La Pantalla Exhibit - Opening
In her solo exhibit, A Través De La Pantalla, the painter Kaelyn Andrade looks at how women—especially Latinas—use social media to share their real, messy, and powerful selves. Through art, she explores identity, family, and the freedom to express who we are online. Like a feed, you can “like” pieces and leave your own thoughts.
Crossing to the Dreams Exhibit- Closing
The closing is your last chance to see this solo exhibition of the artist’s paintings. Sofía Saavedra is a Venezuelan artist who—in this solo exhibition—has presented paintings and other works that celebrate human diversity and approach identity(ies) in dynamism, transit, and transformation. The exhibit features her large, colorful canvases with humans & animals interwoven in allegorical and symbolic tableaus..
Campout - An Intimate Performance
Campout is an immersive & intimate* theatre show staged inside the environs of Agitator Gallery. The performance works a theatrical magic that captures an unusual and specific feeling; the uncanny experience of four people “camping” in a tent which is somehow elevated it to a lasting, emotionally impactful journey. (* Audiences are limited to 2 people at a time; please sign up ahead of time). Performances are offered 3x a night for the run of the show; to reserve seats you must submit this RSVP FORM.
Propagation Lab- Stop Motion Plant
STOP MOTION PLANT is the 2025 Artist in Residence at Agitator Gallery. They are hosting a monthly PROPAGATION LAB to offer open studio time to share ideas, create community and work on projects together.
